Overview 

In celebration of America 250, the Village of Lindenhurst is hosting a community-wide art contest highlighting patriotic and national history themes. The contest invites participants of all ages to express what America means to them through original artwork.

“Red, White, and Blue: What America Means to You.” 

Participants are encouraged to illustrate their personal vision of America—its values, history, symbols, landscapes, and people. 

Eligibility 

• Open to all Lindenhurst community members, including students and adults. 

• Submissions must be original artwork created by the participant. 

• One entry per participant. 

 

Artwork Requirements 

• Artwork must respond to the official contest theme. 

• Accepted formats: o Traditional: 8.5" x 11" paper (any medium). 

. Digital submissions must match the 8.5" x 11" size ratio. 

• Artwork should not include copyrighted characters or commercial branding 

Digital enhancements are allowed but must represent the participant’s own creation. 

• Artwork should be created entirely by the participant. Use of AI-generated imagery or AI-assisted editing/enhancement tools is not permitted. 

Submission Process 

Submissions may be submitted digitally at www.lindenhurstil.org/250artcontest or 

physically at Village Hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, Lindenhurst, IL 60046. Each entry must include: 

• Participant’s name 

• Age or grade level 

• Contact information (parent/guardian for minors) 

 

Submission deadline: March 6, 2026- April 27, 2026 

Judging & Categories 

Entries will be grouped by age: 

• Early Childhood (Pre-K–2nd grade) 

• Youth (3rd –5th grade) 

• Middle School (6th –8th grade) 

• High School (9th –12th grade) 

• Adult (18+) 

 

A community voting period will also be held to select a “Community Choice Winner.” 

Recognition & Display 

• Winning designs will be reproduced as outdoor banners. 

• Banners will be professionally printed and displayed on a structure constructed by Public Works outside Village Hall. 

• Winners will be recognized publicly through Village communication channels and at a Village Board meeting. 

• Gift Cards to Local Businesses. 

Rights & Permissions 

By entering, participants grant the Village permission to display, print, and publish their artwork for contest and promotional purposes.
